D2 Loves...

Love is in the air… so here at D2 we have been thinking about what we have fallen in love with this month. From coffee blends to new music, to wall murals, our list is, well, varied, reflecting the diverse and creative minds that make up our Collective.

Not a boring billboard placement

Starting with a witty ad campaign that grabbed our attention is this recent advertisement by Starling Bank. Its clever placement neighbouring a NatWest ad, whether intentional or entirely fortuitous, duplicated the message and led to a flurry of online engagement after a passer-by snapped the ironic scene.

This is a great example of how user-generated content can be a premium for brands. Creating organic and authentic cross-channel content, a passer-by snapping a picture of this moment and uploading it to social media increased the reach of this ad to heights not possible via traditional B2C communications – D2 loves this strategy.

Office blend

As self-proclaimed coffee fiends, we believe it is imperative to always have great coffee on hand to fuel creative thinking (evidence-based conclusion, ofc). That’s why we make sure to always have the best beans in the D2 office. The best coffee in town, in our amateur aficionado opinion, is Janszoon from Artisan Roast, an Edinburgh independent coffee roastery. With multiple locations across the city, there is nothing like a strong dark Artisan Roast coffee to set you up for a productive day.

Next time you’re nearby, be sure to drop into our office for one of our coffees (artistic license required to appreciate the latte art) – D2 loves this coffee.

Still no blues for us

Since its release, the soundtrack to our February has been Raye’s debut album, entitled My 21st Century Blues. A musical treat worth waiting for, Raye has escaped the seven yearlong creative suffocation from her ex-label and is now free to make music on her own terms. An album which exudes confidence and her newfound freedom in each song, we couldn’t recommend it more - D2 loves this album.

Abstract Elph Trench Wall Mural

If you find yourself located in Leith, then you might also find this hidden gem on Coatfield Lane. A bright abstract mural amidst the grey concrete.

The mural was developed by Elph (@elphone on Instagram) and Trench One, and carries a unique style, filling the mundane space that existed before.

On those cold mornings walking to work, or the drag home after a long day, this mural offers a welcome burst of creativity and intrigue – D2 loves this mural.

Heron on the Water of Leith

One of our appetising neighbours, and a firm favourite amongst our office is Edinburgh restaurant Heron. A relaxed fine dining restaurant with views across the Water of Leith, Heron continues to delight with its amazing food and super staff. If you haven’t tried it yet, you must – D2 loves this restaurant.

Snowdrop Season underway

With the halfway point of winter now passed we are officially on the countdown to Spring. And what a delightful sign to herald the changing season than the emergence of Snowdrops. To celebrate their arrival, the Scottish Snowdrop Festival has been created bringing together a number of Scotland’s gardens to offer a range of horticultural experiences. We will definitely be attending the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh to see some specialist snowdrops and other early spring flowering plants. Check out the experiences near you: https://www.visitscotland.com/blog/scotland/snowdrop-festival/ - D2 loves this festival.

Regardless of your relationship status, there are plenty of things to love in February – and D2 loves that.
